Lincoln HI Elementary hosted the Veterans Day program on Wednesday.
The Veteran's Day Program was held at the Lincoln HI Elementary gym on Wednesday, November 11th. The presentation of Colors was done by the American Legion of Hendricks and the VFW. Also in attendance were the Lincoln County VFW with members from Ivanhoe. Members of both the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary were also in attendance. Hendricks American Legion Commander Scott Pearson of Hendricks did all of the introductions and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and led the closing. The Veteran's day program music was provided by the High School Choir and High School Band, led by Mrs. Debra Larson (choir director) and Mr. Andy Jensen (high school band director). The choir performed the "Star Spangled Banner" and "Children of the New Dawn". The Band performed "Hymn to the Fallen" and "Armed Forces on Parade".Refreshments were served for the veterans and auxillary after the program in the cafeteria.
U.S Marine Corporal Jared Beck of Ivanhoe gave the presentation reminding all of us to honor Veterans of all wars and to not take our freedoms for granted. He reminded listeners that someone has and is making sacrifices now, will be in the future and in the past; so that we can live in safety and freedom in America. He pointed out that he and the Veterans he knows have a deep love of country and allegiance to America which is heartfelt. He shared that every Veteran carries a story and a history that is rich in sacrifice and honor. For this and our many freedoms, we as Americans should always be thankful and never take our many freedoms for granted. He also said to remember those who are currently serving everyday in prayer, not just on Veterans Day because while we can go to bed in safety, they might not have it so great. And he thanked all of the Veterans for their service.
